Bio

Vera Knoepfel was born 1982 in Bern, Switzerland. She graduated from the University of Bern with a MA in History in 2009. 

Her work is mainly focused on Bern and it’s surroundings, with few exceptions from travels to other cities or places. Her interest in photography lies in trying to find access to the subconscious and in documenting what’s happening around her. She is used to taking series of pictures in a rather intuitive way, meaning that she tries to let her mind get blank and start catching glimpses of what seems true to her at that moment in time. She avoids saying «it has to be this way», as this would limit her work. The focus of a series can therefore change while taking the pictures or even while editing.
